General Information for MRI Patients

We deliver a level of patient comfort that exceeds the expectations of a traditional MRI experience. Reclining in a comfortable padded and adjustable chair, only the targeted anatomy is positioned within the MRI system. The exam preparation by the technologist is both faster and easier than that of a traditional MRI. The innovative design provides a more peaceful, patient-friendly environment to put feelings such as discomfort, restlessness, anxiety and especially claustrophobia to rest. The Santa Barbara Extremity MRI delivers all this comfort and ease without any comprise to the image quality thanks to the powerful 1.5T magnet. Conclusively, a comfortable and relaxed patient is less prone to accidental movement, which allows our scans to produce more clear and consistent images time and again.

MRI Patient Preparation

An extremity MRI scan requires little preparation for patients. There are no fasting restrictions or special requirements.

Certain conditions make it unsafe to have an MRI. You must not have an MRI if you have any of the following:

  • Cardiac Pacemaker
  • Cardiac Defibrillator
  • Brain Aneurysm Clip
  • Neurostimulator
  • Metal sliver in your eye from working with metal

You will be required to complete a comprehensive medical questionnaire form (download it here) before your MRI exam to insure your safety in the magnetic field.

Your appointment for a single scan may take up to 1 hour.
